I read in the monitors manual that the WG6100 in my Space Duel uses a 19VLUP22 tube and they also claim that they use it in their raster monitors. The number sounds very familiar and if I am not mistaken, it is a very commonly found CR23 tube. Does that mean if I wanted to do a tube swap with my Space Duel, I can use any compatible CR23 tube?

I don't think that's correct. The WG6100 is a 100 degree tube. I've never seen another 19" video game color monitor use a 100 degree tube. All the other color 19'ers are 90 degree tubes. Also, the WG6100 has a very different neck socket from most raster monitors. I don't think it's a CR23.

I did find a TV once with a 100-degree tube, but it wasn't the same tube number....

The 6100 is a CR24 tube. In order to use the CR23 you have to remove the plastic key from around the tube pins.

I have also found a 100 degree tube once in a TV. I don't recall the manufacturer though...

So what would happen if I removed the key and put a standard 90 degree CR23 into it? Would it work? Dead? Implode?
