I have a 6100 that is kicking my *ss. The monitor works fine with a different deflection board so it is not the game board, the T-03 transistors, the HV or the neck board. It is definitely the deflection board.

Spot killer comes on when I power up the game and remains on. If I crank up the brightness, only the bottom 1/2 of the Star Wars image shows. So, I'm thinking it is something in the Y section. I have a "normal sized" image that fills the screen from left to right but disappears at mid screen. I have checked every single component in the Y section but haven't found anything bad. I have pulled every transistor in the Y section and some in the X and checked it out of circuit. I have checked the connector for continuity and breaks and found none. I checked all the voltages with the game board inputs powered off and did not find anything out of the ordinary.

Googling for this problem led me to a post by somebody named Potts with the exact same issue but he never followed up with a solution. Maybe I have his chassis.

Any ideas?

Do you have a scope? If you do, your best bet is to take two probes, hook it up in XY mode, connect the x lead to the x input, and using the y input, start at the connector, and check the signal there, then at the base and collectors or emitters of each resistor along the way. That way you can narrow it down to a particular part of the circuit.

Check the voltage input to that section. there is a resistor that runs between the entrance of those deflection circuits and ground. If it is shorted (or close to it), you won't get deflection on that axis.

I helped a buddy not long ago who had a similar issue. Turns out the person who worked on it before replaced a 3.9k-ohm resistor with a 3.9-ohm resistor, which basically shunted all the voltage to ground instead of through the deflection circuit...
