I am probably at the beginning of my vector monitor woes here, but except for necking the tube I can't think of any worse start really. When I took off the neckboard with extreme care, the pin on the CR24 socket in the picture just broke clean off. I think it must have had a weakness, because I did not apply any force whatsoever.

I would really appreciate some input on finding the best approach here. Should I try to solder it back together? Find a replacement pin - if so, where? Or try to source a new socket? Are they readily available?

Any input much appreciated guys!

Cheers,
Arch

Alright, after having googled enough to establish that these sockets are extremely hard to come by, I manned up and did some pretty meticulous solder work. The pin had cracked in two places, but I think it will work now. At least I have continuity and it feels solid. Thanks to DKongPete for the inspiration! :)

By the way, should this pin snap off while it is fixed to the tube, what would be the symptoms? I am talking about the solitary tall one.

I had the same problem. It took quite some time to finally find the problem. The screen would be fine then it would go out of focus then back again. I thought it was the wire connector to the focus adjustment knob. But I finally found the culprit in the neck board. I don't know how the tab can break, but it did. It broke in half. I had to do some creative soldering also to get the pad to work again. What PITA.

Ok, it will be interesting to see how it fares. It seems to me that that particular pin is under constant strain. When I pieced it back together again, it was to short to go back into its original position, so I had to add a couple of millimeters of wire bridge to it. Haven't had the chance to try it yet, because I am rebuilding the monitor with an LV2000 and new caps and transistors. I do have a broken Hantarex 900E which uses the same CR24-socket. Last resort is to use that as a donor.

I have a few spare of the whole sockets (Less the small cover)

Me too. Only for those that need them. I have plenty of neck boards that are in bad shape and need fixing. Glad to help somebody get their 6100 running again. Please save your old socket as it could probably be used to make a rejuvenator socket.
