I picked up an empty Space Duel cab that came with a 6100 tube, frame, yoke and rings. When going to put it together, I noticed the rings were labeled WG4600 and the yoke labeled WG6100. So it has 4600 rings on it. My question is, can the 4600 rings work on a 6100 tube? I got it from another collector who knows his stuff, but I want to be sure before I install all the chassis transistors and put it all together.

Also, I picked up a donor tv that has the same neck pins as the 6100 but it's a 90 degree tube, D'oh! Would the rings off that work on the 6100 tube?

Thanks!

Got a "Just do it!" and "Probably".

Anyone in for a "Definitely" or "You're SOL!"? :D

Purity and convergence is different for Raster and vectors

What you are asking may be a case of trial and error. I personally haven't tried raster rings on a 100 degree tube like a WG6100, just on a 90 degree tube. I have tried it on an Amplifone vector (IE Used any old raster rings) and that worked

I will leave the "definite" to the Wg6100 experts ;)

Are you sure that is a 6100 tube (19VLUP22)? Sounds like someone might have been trying to swap a 4600 tube in there and simply mounted in the frame, transferred the yoke, and gave up....

Thanks for the explaination. I think it will be trial and error too. Encouraging that the raster rings worked on your Amp tube. Waiting for the wiring from Bob Roberts and then we'll see.

Yep, it's a 6100 tube for sure. I checked the numbers and it even has some nice Tempest burn in it. :)

Yes. I just replaced rings that were glued all to hell on a 6100 and were completely unadjustable with a set form a raster tube.
Dialed in a beautiful picture in about 10-12 minutes. MUCH better. I think the rings were off a K7000 25" tube. Not 100 per cent sure.

Cool. I just found out from a reputable source that the rings should all be the same.

Gonna try the 4600 rings and I think while I'm at it I'll experiment and try a set of 4900 rings too just to see if they work.

I agree they should work, as the rings deflect the electrons coming off the three guns.

BTW, note that the pinouts at the end of an Amp tube and a WG6100 tube are the same. So if you could find an Amp yoke (ha!) you could pry off the unobtanium cap to expose regular pins and then attach Amplifone boards.
