I've got an unknown if working 6100 that was once in a Space Duel. Am doing the Bob cap kit, addit parts kit, and a v1.5 LV2000 kit that I've had for longer than I can remember.

I've successfully fixed 3 of these, so I know just enough to be dangerous.

In cleaning the boards, it appears they have never been soldered on at all. I already see a LOT of cracked solder joints on the header pins.

Since they used IDCs, would it be worthwhile to replace all of the IDCs with new molex housings and trifurcon pins in an effort to "bulletproof", or would that be a waste of time?

I have repaired quite a few of these monitors and I cannot think of an instant where I needed to replace a connector. I always reflowed the original connector pins on the deflection board and HV board when I would recap them. Have fun with your project.

IDC connectors should be fine in a monitor. Where they kinda suck is in power supply connections, where there's a fairly high current involved. I wouldn't fool with them unless they were visibly compromised.

Did you get replacement output transistors? If not, and you end up needing them, let me know. I have some that were pulled from my 6100 and turned out to be fine, and depending on where in Alabama you are I might could save you some time and money over having to order more.

I did get the output transistors, but thanks anyways. I'm near Huntsville and work in Huntsville. Met a couple of other collectors in Birmingham area!

Only worked on two WG6100's and one showed the problems you mention, however, the solderings and the direct islands were not harmed, the cracks were where the island went into the track.
I had to bridge these breaks, just reflowing the solderings wouldn't have helped here because the solder won't "jump" over the breaks.

I hate WG6100's....
