WG6100 Out of Focus

The monitor picture looks good and now I'm having issues with the switches. I tried two different PCBs to make sure that was not causing the issue. Same thing with both. Only one cherry switch is registering. The other 3 are not functioning. I tried different new switches but no luck. I thought maybe the wiring was wrong but I confirmed and it's right. Anyone have idea what could cause the switches not to work?

Could be broken wires. Quick way to find out is to check for voltage at the switch. With the switch sitting open you should get 4-5VDC across the two wires.

Thanks for replying. I'm almost ready to give up. It took me a while to get where I am and now these switches are giving me issues. I'll try testing as you suggested.

Thanks again

Since you switched board sets and you have the same problems, you have ruled out the pokey. Did you put the board in self-test to see if there are any errors? If there are no errors, there is something wrong with your wiring. Get some schematics or trace the wires. See if there is continuity between the two pins in the connector when you close the switch. If there isn't, you have something wrong at the switch or wiring in the yoke. Report back.

Thanks Komodo. So, I tested the voltage as suggested. It looks like I have 4.95 coming out of the only good switch. The others read 0. So, I suspect this is now a wiring issue. The yoke I'm using came from another game (Star Wars upright). Basically, I was using the best parts from both machines. I have been finding that not all the wiring are identical between both machines. I wonder if the previous owner did any mods to it. So, I'm going to try and replace it with the original yoke and see if that helps. Thanks again guys. I hope I can get this working 100%. I'm so close.

Might just be that the molex's at the control panel are pinned differently from the U/R to the sit down cab.

Since you've verified that your not getting +5 at the switches you either have broken wires or something is pinned differently.

Quick Update - it was the wiring. Apparently someone hacked up the upright molex connection.

I put back the original yoke controller and everything worked perfectly.

Thanks again guys. I'm excited that I can finally play this thing.
