WG6100 low B+ ?

Uhhhhh, while checking the B+ (center pin on J501 on the neck board I noticed there were only two wires on the plug......the purple one (B-) is missing from the plug. That can't be right !

Should be there for sure :) :

More tomorrow....

I think the purple one is just for the brightness pot and not really needed on all 6100's.Meaning you should still be able to adjust the brightness on the high voltage cage.

Hah, turned out I just had to turn up the pot in the HV cage. Adjusted it nicely to 181V at no signal.
Reconnected the SW PCB and gone was the "oversized" picture and fuzziness....

By turning the Screen on the HVT I got a reasonable picture but I don't have red (have seen it occasionally, so I don't think it's the gun) but I checked out all components in the Red amplifier path and everything seems OK.

Will check the entire path tomorrow....most be some poor soldering or some bad pot...

Not happy that I can't test the CRT, I don't have the correct adapter for my Müter Rejuvenator/Tester and this type of CRT connector seems impossible to get these days (while regular one's are all around still....)

If anyone has one of those CRT sockets or a FUBAR WG6100 PCB please let me know...

Mmm, I should have known the answer would be in the WG6100 FAQ:

There is one small exception to the universal compatibility rule for the neck board PCB. The P328 version uses a third (purple) wire running from the innermost (normally unused) pin of connector J501 to pin 8 of J900 on the HV unit. Without this wire, the new brightness control on P328 is disabled.
