What's the diagnosis on this. As seen in the video, the left and right sides are really jumpy and squeeze together. It clears up after a while. Monitor or board?

Could be either in theory, but I'd strongly suspect monitor first.

Reflow the solder joints on the connector headers pins, for all connectors on the deflection board. If it's clearing up after a while, it's most likely a cracked joint. Or possibly a loose/stretched out socket on one of the frame transistors, but I'd suspect the deflection board solder joints first.

Reflowing headers on the deflection board seems to have done the trick. I had done that before, but maybe I missed a leg. Thanks again!

andrewb do you live here? Everytime I go on the forums to help with a vector monitor question, you seem to have already addressed it. What's frustrating is you are usually spot on with your diagnosis. I have learned a few things as well. Just wanted to say thanks for your contributions.

Ha, thanks. I've just worked on a LOT of these over the past several years. And over time you learn to see a lot of the same patterns, so my neural net is pretty well-trained at this point. :)
