Having some issues with my Q*Bert monitor. When I turn it on, it slowly scrolls right to left. I have used the pots to get it to stop, but when I turn the game off and back on, it starts scrolling again.

Any thoughts?

It had been capped (not by me), but I did another cap kit.

The picture looks better now, but still having the same issues...

I sometimes get the picture where it should be and then when I reset the game, it shifts again. I also noticed that when you jump on the green ball that freezed all the characters, the screen shifts a bit to the right every time the screen "flashes".

Could it be bad pots?

You sure it's the monitor and not the game? Q*Bert is notorious for bad solder joints along the filter board - I've seen it hose the sync before.

Also, do you have it hooked up correctly? The 4900 monitors have both positive and negative sync inputs. Which are you using?

Definately check the headers on the filter board. Also check the IDC connectors..I think the synch wires are the rightmost 2 on the connector.. Mine had some corrosion on the 60 pin edge connector which would hose up the synch connection. It took several cleanings, polishing, etc to get it to work reliably.

Will check on the filter board. I know its hooked up correctly as it used to work, but not does not and no changes where made. :)

Will do.

Just "fiddled" (official term) with the filter board and it seems to have fixed it... I will reflow the headers.

BTW, any real need for the filter board? Can i bypass it all together?
