wg4600 help it seems the flyback is making high pitch whine

i just bought a frogger and the monitor was dead and blowing fuses (the 3amp on the power supply). i found someone had tied the marquee light to the same power as the monitor and it must have a short in the light so for now i just cut it out and left the light disconnected. then the monitor powered up but no neck glow or image but the screen had static to the touch so i check the B+ and it was 167vdc. i pulled the deflection board out and tried swapping it with another one i had (out of an older monitor that has never been capped but the monitor was working). the monitor worked and i set the B+ at 127vdc the game played for 1-2 games and started a high pitched whine like a noisy florescent light and the noise after further investigating seems to be coming from the flyback or at least that area. anyone have any ideas what could be causing that or what i should look at?
thanks for any help.

i checked the ferrite and it didn't seem loose nor would a tooth pick slide in there (there is no gap, its very tight). i will be removing the chassis and recapping it this weekend so i can look better then and will repost after the rebuild. thanks

i rebuilt the monitor and also when it was out i shoved a toothpick along the ferrite and i am not sure what stopped it but it not making the noise yet.
thanks
