Hi,

Working on a WG25K2193 (U2000) and having display issues.

I performed a full cap kit, replaced the HOT (dead) and HVT, reflowed any suspect joints and gave it a go...... (see below)

That display is the power up display on the TPG when first turned on........

I researched this and read many times that this is a standard resolution display, the U5000 is the dual display.

But on this chassis the Wells-Gardner U-5000/U-2000 Vertical Sweep Upgrade Kit is installed.........

The chassis appears to be the U2000 as indicated by the P717 code......

So I then tried all combinations of standard resolution, medium resolution with the jumper attached and detached and cannot get a good pic.......

As my expertise ends with the G07 and K4900, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jeff

BTW, I tried all the adjustment pots just to be sure and nothing I act upon does any good, I was hoping it was the Horizontal control but alas it is not to be that easy....

Checked and set B+ to 117vdc........good to go on that.

Also attached the Wells-Gardner U2000/U5000 Power Supply Upgrade Kit Service Kit # S04E0000-000F
and the Wells-Gardner U-5000/U-2000 Vertical Sweep Upgrade Kit Installation instructions from Wells Gardner for anyone that is interested.,.....

No and I thought for sure that was the issue....

It does act on the display but does not resolve the issue.

I'll get a DMM on the pot to make sure it is not faulty......As soon as I can.

your horizontal linearity coil may be broken or bad solder connection. L701

I don't have a U2000 manual but on U5000 it's towards the middle of the deflection board by the plastic bracket edge. it's black, 3 legs.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion!

I'll check that out as well, I'll need a few hours to get in front of the display though......

Thanks again...

Make sure your TPG is setup for -CSYNC and you've got sync wired only to the Horiz (composite) pin on the monitor. Make sure your TPG has a good battery.

Then I would look at the schematic and follow sync, testing those components. But if I were to just guess what your issue is, I would suspect the LA7850 (U701) and the H-HOLD pot. Remove U701 and install a socket so that you can swap the new and old in to test.

I wouldn't think U601 was bad since that's the vertical IC and this looks like a Horizontal sync issue.

Assuming it's not a sync/H.Hold issue and you are using pin 10 only for sync at both the monitor and the TPG, check for cracked/broken components in this area…

Thanks guys for the suggestions and help.......

I have good news! - but I do not know why.......

I pulled the remote board and ran the Horiz Pot up and down and received the expected readings, from about 2 ohms up to about 4800 ohms....

I checked the horizontal linearity coil L701 and it was not broken nor was there any cold solder joints........

I then hooked up the TPG again but this time instead of connecting to the Negative Sync connections on the TPG and Chassis, I connected to the Positive Sync on both the TPG and the monitor chassis and powered it up. I had the same display - but then when I ran the Horiz. pot I got a good display!

Strange but I am just happy that it works.

Thanks again for everyone's help, greatly appreciated.

Jeff
