I just got my U2000 chassis back from Chad @ Arcadecup. When I got the game (free) the monitor showed only a tiny horizontal line across the middle of the screen. From everything I read I didn't want to mess with the repair on this chassis which is why I had Chad do it. Got it back last week and outside of a bit of weird coloring on the bottom inch of the screen (haven't degaused it yet, I guess) it seemed to work great. Tonight I powered it up for the second time and for the first 5 minutes it was on the yellows just weren't there. Then, out of the blue, they came on. Do I have a tube issue or what's up? Any ideas? Other than needing to be degaused the monitor looks fantastic... no burn, just nice bright color. It was definitely worth the $135 repair fee to have this without having to do it on my own.

sounds like a game board problem. If blue, green or red are missing then you have a monitor problem but since you are missing yellow it sounds like your game board. If you have your red, green and blue on your screen and yellow goes away then its your game board.

Hmm... well maybe it's actually the greens. Removing green often takes a lot of the yellow out of the color so it always makes me thing it's actually yellows. In reality, I'm really tired and wasn't really thinking. :) Anyways, I powered the game on again, about an hour later, to take a picture for a friend and it came up fine. I'll keep an eye on it to see if/when it happens again. Oh, and it's Marvel Super Heroes (CPS-2). My 9-year old son is now obsessed with it.

You might have to reflow the solder on the neckboard transistors. These get incredibly hot and it doesn't help that the heat sinks on them are awful. That or one of them could be going out. Not uncommon either. You might want to take a look around the darkened / burnt areas on the neckboard.

If the color goes bad again, go into test and go into monitor test on the board and see if you lost one color. Maybe your green drive transistor is going into thermal shutdown.

check the resistors too. if those go bad, it'll nuke your transistors or overheat them at least.

I've had the game on two more times since this first happened and it's worked fine both times. I guess I just assumed that the chassis/neckboard was fine seeing as I just (last week) got it back from Chad @ Arcadecup. If it happens again I'll probably email him again to see what he thinks too. Would suck to have something up with it.
