I picked up a K7000 flyback, thinking it would work in this K7901, but it's totally different. Looking around, I don't see a source for them at all. Am I screwed, or is there somewhere I can get this part from?

If not, what are my options?

Here's the fly on the chassis:

your chassis is the Zenith K7000a.

the two chassis types are about identical except the fly.

what is wrong with it if your fly is still good then a cap and re-flow is all you need and any other bad parts replaced.

otherwise you will need another K7000 chassis if the fly is bad or find anotherK7000a that has a good fly and repair it or transplant it on yours.

i have some used unknown K7000a fly's if you wanna try one.
or i have ready re-built wells K7000 chassis ready to go if you need one.

Peace

The image is soft, and it's worse in the middle than the edges. I recapped / reflowed everything, and it didn't help.

Shoot me a PM with a price list, I'd be interested to know, at least.

Ok it works and you have capped it great.

check your focus wire where it goes into the neck socket.
it may be loose or dirty take it out and see them reinstall it.
if its soldered re-flow it to be sure.

also check the pin on the neck to see if its clean

and if you can check your tube with a rejuvenater it may need some help as well.

Peace

If the tube or bezel is as dirty as that chassis, that could explain the "soft" focus. I've often cleaned the tube and inside of a bezel and suddenly "fixed" a focus problem...

EDIT - and I just had an issue with a regular K7000 that had the same problem, and it turned out to be the tube. I swapped the chassis to another tube and it worked just fine...

Will do.

Everything's clean up front. I've fixed a few that way, too.

I should be able to swap that onto a 25" K7000 tube/frame, right?

Be a bummer if it was a tube issue.
