Hey guys...I have a K7193 that plays mostly blind as all you can see are blurry images only what I can describe as ghost-like images. This monitor has had some fuse blowing issues in the past but this can't be related to that right?

The video that should give you a good idea of what I'm talking about. Any advice on the problem would be much appreciated. Thanks! -Keith

*in a Dynamo cab, game is "Varth" (shootem up)

Update: Have since done more extensive forum searching...but not really anything definitive on this issue. It looks like the flyback/cap repair kit is common resolution though for these monitors.

try to adjust the focus, IF you dont see any cracks in he flyback.

AS WITH ANY MONITOR ISSUE could be caps, solder, weak tube, etc but yeah if the fly looks ok try to adjust it.

if your fly is cracked then just replace it now ans recheck to see what ya got.

Id also make sure that the focus wire is secured to the neckboard securely.

Also try turning the SCREEN voltage up a hair on the flyback.
Make sure the anode lead (suction cup) is good and secure in the back of the tube.
(make sure you understand discharging a tube first !!)

Is there decent neck glow in the neck of the tube ?

Hard to see exactly what is going on in those pics and I couldn't see anything (maybe a plug-in issue on my part) in the video.

Actually, upon closer inspection, it doesn't look like I'm getting neck glow in the back. But how can that be if I'm seeing images, albeit very faint black and white blurryness, on the monitor?

Could be residual High Voltage.....

I'd check your B+ voltage and see where it is at to be sure it's not just shutting down on ya.

Also scour the main chassis and neckboard near ANY large resistors for bad solder joints.
There is a common area near the middle/rear of the chassis that will have bad joints and also the resistor (R213?) inline with the heaters on the neckboard.

ha ha yeah my wife had some old school pics of the kid done when he was young, then somebody here photoshpped the ciggy booze and glasses on lol. been my avatar ever since.
