Hi guys,

I've assembled a couple Zenith built K7000a's from parts chassis' that I've picked up from a few fellow KLOV members over the last couple years.

Have in total; (3) 25" main boards, (2) 19" main boards, (1) CR23 socket neckboard, (1) CR31 neckboard model 456, (1) P545 remote front control board. I think I enough parts to fix two if I can score another remote PCB.

The questions:
- Does the P545 remote board go with the 19", the 25", either, or neither?

- Every chassis with a remote board had the brightness POT (VR6) missing without anything else soldered in it's place. There were a bunch of POTS missing since these were parts chassis. Do I need to have VR6 on the main board? My guess is yes.

- my pilfered HOT is a BU2520DX. Manual calls for a 2SD1556. Am I good to go with this one? I compared sheets and think its a suitable replacement that can carry a bit more current, but there sure is a lot of info in those sheets that I don't fully understand.

- The Molex connector for the remote plugs in either way. I traced it out and believe I have it correctly connected as shown in the pic. Am i right?

I've spent hours searching but there just isn't much out there on these Zenith built chassis' that I can find helpful. I will be testing and hoarding the extra flybacks for future fun.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good day :)

That's correct right now. I have one that looks identical. IMO these are great chassis'. They always have a nice, sharp stable picture. They don't seem to have the blooming issues that the regular K7000's do. I have quiet a collection of K7000A's as well, even some NOS ones.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. If I'm understanding correctly, your remote board looks like mine and the cable is connected in the same manner. Is your monitor a 19" or a 25"?

I have never seen one of these in action and look forward to it!

I noticed that the HOT does not have a mica film insulating it from the heat sink and there is a metal clip holding it in place. There is thermal paste, non conductive would be my guess. The transistor case is not conductive. I found a thread where Buffet mentioned this and an insulator needs to be used if you use a different replacement.

I hope to try it out once I find what size this remote board is designed for.
Thanks again!

The chassis I looked at is a 25", but I believe I have a 19" with the same remote board, I will look when I get a chance. The HOT these come with is en cased in plastic so it doesn't need an insulator. If it was replaced with one with the metal exposed it would need an insulator. I have some K7000A's where the HOT is secured with the clip and others that have a bolt and nut.
