Hi everyone...

So I have a WG K7000 zenith in my TMNT dedicated arcade. A couple weeks ago my wife and kid were playing it and (my wife says) there was some smoke and crackling from inside the cab right before the monitor went out. My wife turned it off immediately. When I got home I investigated and the chassis fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and turned it on. The tube comes on and then the fuse promptly blows. So I figured Id replace the flyback, HOT, do a cap kit, and the voltage regulator. Bought the stuff, and wondered why the flyback looked different from the one I got. Low and behold I find out there is a "zenith" version of the K7000 which has a non-replacable flyback...and as luck would have it THATS what I have! I went ahead and did the cap kit, HOT and voltage regulator hoping it might just be one of those. I turned the cab on and I can hear sizzling and the thing hanging off the left hand side of the chassis where two wires go gets REALLY hot. I'm guessing this is exactly what was happening that my wife heard but she didnt know it and didnt turn it off like I did before bad things happened. Maybe thats a part cooking and eventually when its done cooking it will blow the fuse too? Dunno... But I do know the monitor doesnt even attempt to come on now to blow the fuse?

So... given that all of thats been replaced I am pretty sure its the flyback which means the chassis is dead. (Unless there is another suggestion in here?)

What are my options here? Would the chassis from a non-zenith K7000 work in this? Are there any easy to swap readily available (used or new if reasonably priced) 25" monitors that would work without problems in my TMNT I can just buy? (I've never swapped monitors before... Not sure if there are signal issues, or if Id have to fab a bunch of stuff to get it to sit right, etc) I saw the Wei-Ya chassis references but noticed some complaints about quality? Ideally Id like to keep this machine at least looking authentic to players so please no flat screen LCD suggestions or anything like that.

Appreciate any input!

Your easiest solution is to install a non-Zenith K7000 chassis. In fact, this is the first thing I do when I encounter a Zenith K7000 that is giving me problems. I don't have any good spares right now but they sell here fairly regularly.

Ditto. I have replaced 3 zeniths with regular K7000 chassis in my collection. Got a couple of rebuilt spares I keep around since the K7000 is the most common 25" monitor in my machines.
