Hi everyone. I seem to have the worst luck with repairing monitors. I just did a cap kit on both a K7193 and a K7500 (p793 rev:c), both of which showed jailbars. Well, even after replacing the caps, both monitors still have jailbars.

The K7193 only really has jailbars on a grey screen. You can still see them during gameplay, but it's not that noticable. The K7500 has it worse. I replaced every cap on the K7500 except the following-

270uf/400V/105c in the PS section
2200uf/35V/105c - large cap to the left of the flyback in this pic
10uf/25V/85c - cap C800?
and the 10uf/50V cap that the word, "THIS" points to in the above pic. These, as well as the neckboard, have not been replaced. All other caps have been replaced.

Does anyone here know which cap should fix the jailbars on these chassis?

When you say jail bars it makes me wonder if really mean hum bars or if they are jail bars? Post a pic.

If they are jail bars are you sure you don't have the brightness on the flyback too high?
Humbars - could be a grounding issue. Add a ground from the monitor chassis to the ISO transformer.

Have you adjusted the 'screen' adjustment on the flyback? If it is turned up too high it can look like jailbars.

Yes, I have adjusted it. They're not retrace lines, however, they're jailbars. It's my understanding that retrace lines occur when the screen is adjusted too high, and jailbars occur when a particular cap is failing (and typically show up on the left side of the screen). Mine are on the left side of the screen, going vertically top to bottom.

Edit- humbars? Hmm. I'll cut up a cat 5 cable and do as you suggested, then report back.

Jailbars can occur in both situations not just one.
Have you tried adjusting the contrast and black on the remote board? If you have two chassis doing this I would have to assume it's a simple adjustment needing to be made.

Have these ever worked correctly for you or did you buy them non working?

Well they work, just with these jailbars. Everything else is fine for the most part. I tried messing around with the contrast and brightness on the remote board but they didn't go away, unfortunately. But the reason I ask if anyone knows which cap causes the jailbars is because with my luck, it will have been one of the 4 caps I didn't replace. I can't seem to find a flowchart for the K7500's, however. :(

I don't suppose this game had jailbars for a long time, and the image got burned in that way, and now you're seeing the ghosting of the burn-in rather than actual jailbars?

EDIT - oh yeah, and did you replace EVERY cap, or just certain ones?

Every radial electrolytic cap on the chassis minus the 4 mentioned above and those on the neckboard. And I hadn't even thought about the burn in, but double checking them... they are both burn in free.

Replace the rest of the electrolytic caps (except for the filter cap) before any other troubleshooting....
