So after cleaning and rechecking all my frame transistors, I power the monitor up and get neck glow and two lights on the LV6100 once again!

Now, after having it powered on for a few seconds, I begin to smell a musty smell emitting from the monitor. I then find out that R107 is putting off some EXTREME heat. I assume its not supposed to.

Now here is my question...Is R107 my problem, or is it something else in the line that is causing it to heat up?

And another question, I have the majority of my Bob Roberts Deluxe kit left over, including all these white doodads. R107 reads 7.5ohm, but none of the parts in the BR kit have 7.5ohms on them. A couple of them have no ohm readings at all. Is R107 included in the BR deluxe kit?

That Resistor I think steps down the filament voltage. Mine gets pretty hot too. If its still getting hot, its still working at least. Are you getting the spot killer? Deflection chatter? You gotta have those.. If you got the "additional" parts kit, you get some duplicates.. Make sure you check all of your bottlecaps to the chassis. I had one last weekend that had a chunk out of the mica insulator, and was shorting to the chassis. It will silently and quickly blow your power supply transistors.

Those are not in the deluxe kit and Bob does not sell them, you can use 2 15ohm resistors together , Fry's sells 15ohm ones if you have a Frys near you.

Ok so I checked R107 and the ohms read good. So we can rule that out. Now, I get deflection chatter, but I think it is coming from the Tempest PCB instead of the monitor. The spot killer light is off, but the LV6100's lights are both lit. I took a few measurements and I seem to be missing my +/- 28v from the HV. None of my transistors are shorted to the chassis.

You won't hear deflection chatter from the Tempest board. You might hear game sounds but not chatter. The chatter sound is generated by the monitor. It almost sounds like a cicada but at a lower frequency and quieter. Sort of a raaaaaaaaaaaaah sound. Your transistors might not be shorted but they could still be open. Test the bottlecaps using the directions posted in several threads.
