I just want to check to see if I have this correct:

WG K4914 = standard res
WG K4915 = med res

Is this right?
I have a Rolling Thunder & I'm trying to figure if it's a med or standard res game. The OG monitor for it is labeled K4914, but I'm wondering if it's actually a K4915.

That is correct.

What is the monitor problem? Do you see multiple images overlapped?

No, the OG monitor (labeled 4914) is just fine, but I had pulled it to use in my Rampage (which needed that specific monitor, apparently). I'm having trouble with a replacement monitor & was wondering if Rolling Thunder was actually Med-res.

Here's some pics of my K4914 (labeled as)...

Is there anything here that would indicate it possibly being a K4915?

Rampage and Rolling Thunder are both definitely Standard resolution. What chassis did you use as a replacement? Did you use the original yoke or did you swap the yoke? What is it doing currently?

If it was a 4915, it would have a little circuit board mounted on top of the left side wall, like this one:

Could that board on yours be the board on mine with the blue knob? Different location, sort of under the flyback area... you can see it on 2-3 of the pics... especially the 2nd one. It's labeled P344?

Just checking...

Nope. In fact, on my pic, you can see that blue knob sticking out under the neckboard. That's a little board they put on later chassis' as a vert-position adjustment pot. Earlier chassis' had a jumper you had to move, just like the horizontal shift jumper.

BTW - that little board I mentioned is found on the K4915 (19" medium-res), K5501 (25" standard-res) and K5515 (25" medium-res). There are other differences between these three chassis to tell which is which, mainly having to do with the part number of the linearity coil and the values of a couple caps.

The standard-res K4900's don't have that small board, and have the linearity coil mounted on the chassis rather than on the side wall under that little board...

Sorry, old thread resurrection.

Question:

Does every K4915 have this small circuit board on top? I picked up a K4915 that does not have it. (Untested though).

I'm just curious if other revisions had the circuitry built into the chassis, or if in fact what I think is a K4915 (labeled on the monitor frame), was changed at some point to a standard res 4900

I'm pretty sure all K4915 had them. And if it doesn't, it isn't a 4915.

I'd suggest posting pictures so we can all see what you have in case someone just robbed a part or two off of it.
