See attched picture.

Ok, I have these lines at the top of the picture, cap kit has been done.

Seem close together for retrace lines, but I could be wrong.

Any ideals?

That doesn't look like retrace, that looks like the board is using that part of the screen as scratch space for drawing, kinda like how Williams games do.

that's what i was thinking as well.
do you have another game to test it with.

Some of the later era 4900 have a vertical damping pot. Sometimes that will adjust those lines out (if you have that option).

I don't have another non-laser disc game, so if it is specific to a laser game I am kind of hooped (kind of sad really and can't swap with the vectors I have). ;)

But I get the lines when the game board is not connected (and with) - I have tried swapping the NTSC card between the games and that didn't seem to make a difference, so it is with the monitor specifically

Thanks, I will check if it has the pot and see if that makes a difference.

But I do agree that it doesn't seem like retrace lines - like I mentioned in my first post that they seem too close together. I will try swapping the monitors out as well as see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. :D

edit - I will also try a different LD player, maybe that is the issue...

Update,

Ok, no vert damping pot and I have tried the monitor on a couple of other games (turns out I forgot about my Jungle Hunt board set) - in any event the lines are still there, they are not as bright on the Jungle Hunt (may also be due to there being some problem with the board set as there is no blue outputted).

Same on my Dragon's Lair game as this one.

Maybe an issue with IC301? I am thinking it must be something in the vertical drive section...
