I got this TV that I think will be good for a tube swap. I'm wanting to swap it with WG K4900 chassis but I'm not sure what socket it uses CR-23 or CR-31. If it's a CR-31 I think I'm home free. Might have to swap the yoke but it'll work. It's a 19 inch monitor and I'm pretty sure it's a CR-31. Anybody know what the 4900 are? Doesn't say on the Donor site.

Hmm didn't want to hear that. I guess I'll pull the chassis and check with the neck board to my tube to make double sure.

Update

I must of been wrong cause it fits perfect. So Tube must be CR-23. Awesome!

"Fit" means nothing... the actual "pinout is what matters.
Yes, a CR-23 will "fit" on a CR-31 and vice versa.
But what each pin actually does is different.

What is the tube number on the donor TV?

Hmm I wrote this down from when I was looking at it last night hopefully this helps.

This was on a label on the tube. CX3186 the 31 the reason I thougt it was a 31.

Chassis Number for the TV 19C509.

Just looked again and saw the Pin numbers were teh same. It also looks like Red Blue Green match to.

Fround this today when looking closer this says Tube Model number 27385880.

Also saw the manufacture date the TV is from 1986.

There a sticker with solid bold number 169. Doesn't say anything else beside it or around it. Is that what I'm looking for?

Only thing I can find on the TV that relates to tube model is this number 27385880 I've checked the B&K instuctions and nothing comes up.

I think the info I need on this tube just ain't out there. Would it be crazy to give it a shot anyhow? Or should I just look for another TV?

Are there any numbers molded into the back of the tube glass? Large letters embossed right into the tube's surface.

Looking for something like 19VKUP or something like that.

A CR23 compatable chassis will not fit on a CR31 tube. They aren't the same size. However, there are a few other tube adaptors that will fit on a CR23 size tube, such as a CR28.

We use the B&K adaptor chart as a quick reference to ID the size and pinout of the tube. However, it is not a fool proof method to find a good replacement.

The tube number should start with either a 19, a letter follwed by 19, a 480 or a letter followed by 480. Another alternative is if the TV neckboard has the signals labeled you can ID what signal goes where and cross reference them with the B&K chart.

Personally I would attach the chassis, power it up, and see what I get...

I like the way you think. What's the worse that could happen?

Oh well I be damn (In my best Bevis). I finally found the number everybody been telling me to get. It was hidden by a degaussing cable. A48AAN01X turns out it is a CR-23, Happy Days! I think I picked a winner. Think I'll have to switch the yoke though.
