WG K4900 in cocktail table changes color when closed

This WG K4600 is mounted inside a cocktail Pac-Man machine. When the lid on the machine is opened, the monitor works beautifully. However as I start closing the lid, the colors slowly start changing until the lid is closed, and the majority of the screen is in a different color (it almost looks like color burn). This change happens slowly as I close the lid, from one side (the one opposite of the hinge) to the other (the hinge side).

I am currently suspecting two things. Either I need to degauss the monitor, or the proximity of the transformer assembly to the monitor is changing the colors. I want to say that its the latter, because if I needed to degauss it, wouldn't it always be discolored? It's flawless when it's on its side, only when I close it does it discolor. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? Any suggestions?

To further diagnose it, I'm thinking of dismounting the monitor from the top of the machine, and elevating it, to see how distance from the transformer assy affects it.

Any monitor is going to look like it needs degaussed if it is moved while it is on.

What does it do if you turn the machine off, close the top, let it sit awhile (like 15-20 minutes) and THEN turn it on while it is all still closed up ?

Welcome to the wonderful world of cocktails.

You can try degaussing, but I find that I have to adjust the purity and convergence on the monitor once it is in the cabinet, in the closed position. Reach through the coin door to adjust the rings. Purity might be all you need.

Let me guess, this monitor looked great in a upright cab?

Close the lid and use a soldering iron or a degaussing coil to degauss the monitor. If it worked, then it should do the exact opposite, meaning it will look beautiful when its closed, but change colors when its open. At least, thats how it worked with the DK cocktail I had.

KevinMullins:
Letting it sit a while seemed to help somewhat. Now, more of the screen is ok, and only half of the screen is discolored. I might have to try to let it sit even longer and see if it helps.

Brick Top:
I'm going to have leave adjusting the purity rings as a last resort. I don't want to create too much work for myself, but if degaussing it doesn't help, I'll have to try adjusting the rings.

Where is your speaker located?

Mine was located at the top on the player 2 side and I experienced the same issues. Moved it to the bottom and Bob is my uncle.

Yep, it's the purity rings. Man, this is going to be a lot of tinkering :p
Thanks for the suggestions guys. On a possibly related note, I now have a high pitched noise that occasionally is heard emanating from the monitor. Strange.
