Are the daughter boards (XY, interface, etc) from a K4600 interchangable with a K4700 13" chassis?
If so, are the cap kit listings the same as well? The silkscreens seem to be similar, although I haven't gone through each one part by part...

Bump for a cap kit listing for a K4700 series...

Here you go...

Checking the parts list, noticed a few typos(?):

  • 10uf25V C614/C315 -----> C614: 33uf 25V?
  • 47uf160V C608/C622 -----> C622: 1000uf 35V?
  • C608 is marked as the filter cap in the parts list, but correct on the board as C605
  • C202 doesn't exist on any of the K3700 series interface boards, but is on the P317 interface board for a K3600
just thought I'd let you know so you could double-check, and maybe update your list & notes.

  • looks like someone rebuilt it at some point with a 19" cap kit...

  • I just went and doubled checked two K4700 I have on the shelf....all original caps...
    C614 = 10uf25V
    C622 = 47uf160V

    C614 @ 33uf25V = K4600
    C622 @ 1000uf35V = K4600

    It's not uncommon to have a K4600 chassis stuck under a 13" tube.

    EDIT: Looks like Mod has faster typing fingers than I :)

Actually I don't even have the monitor out yet -- I was just going off the parts list from the K4700 manual.

But... WG has been known to have a typo or two in their manuals... :rolleyes:

I know this is resurrecting an old thread, but I was just over at Saltbrez's house and we dug a very nice k4700 out of the attic. Worked great, but the interface card only had the connector for seperate pos sync (probably came out of a wms cocktail according to him) and I am wondering if any of the k4600 interface cards with neg syc support would work in it?

I think I just ran into the same thing with a 13" I'm recapping. I had those same differences but there's another one that has me stumped, C633, which apparently doesn't exist on my chassis. It's a 2.2uf 50v bipolar cap, listed in the 13" but not in the 19". I thought I might at least find a blank spot for it to go but the closest blank I can find is C632. So should I just leave this cap out of the equation, put in in C632, or will this chassis even work at all? Was working with major pincushioning before replacing caps, now at a stopping point until I get some advice on this.

I have the 4700 cap kit. I think I have a 19" chassis on a 13" tube though, as the original cap values match the 19" list. My question is I'm still left with a stray 2.2uf bipolar for a spot that does not exist on this chassis (C633). I'm guessing I don't need it? The monitor is working fine without it. A little noisy on startup but that goes away after a few minutes.

I'm working on a Defender cocktail with a WG 13K4713 monitor, which was converted to Greyhound Trivia. I'm converting it to Jamma, and I've discovered that the monitor is positive sync, when Jamma is negative sync. I'm also looking for an answer of whether the interface daughtercards are interchangeable since most others support negative sync.

P305 interface card supports both. Jamma is composite sync by the way.

I think what he meant is that he only has the interface card that has seperate positive sync inputs (like something that would mate up well with a Williams game).

Yes, you can use the other type interface cards that have the extra 3 pins for comp neg sync. I may have a couple if you don't have one.

Can you post a pic of the interface card you do have?

Update: I put in an interface card from a K4600 (I think) with both sync inputs. Connected the already-combined sync wires from the Jamma harness to the separate sync pins on the card. It worked so well and I have a GREAT monitor picture now after some adjustment. So the answer is yes, those cards are interchangeable for whatever sync you may need :)

Thank you for the offer, I robbed one from a 19" K4600 that I had laying around, and it did in fact fix my issue. I may need one in the future, though, in case I want to work on that monitor again.

Glad to hear it worked!

Good deal. Always nice to hear about something going right for a change!
