Hello, I recently did a cap kit on my K4600 monitor and having some issues. I'm new to arcades as I'm usually in the vintage computer hobby and have done many caps kits and little repairs with those. But I finished the cap kit which I also replaced the b+ filter cap and replaced C621 Axial cap. I double checked my work making sure everything was correct and re flowed some spots like for the power board, and the two other cards. I hooked everything back together in my Zaxxon cabinet which was working before and with the new cap kit the game started right up and I played a game. I then left it running and stepped outside for a bit on which I heard a pop from the house and I came back to the monitor screen looking like the attached files.

I checked everything over and never smelt anything burnt and took the monitor and checked it over and nothing looked like it popped or was damaged. I'm not sure if the loud sound I heard was my cats or the speaker maybe popping because nothing looks to have been exploded at least I don't see any signs of it. I'm not sure if this was their before but I do hear a buzzing sound that sounds like its coming from the fly back area.

I did some research about other monitors that looked like this and some were saying its the horizontal problem but I tried to adjust and but no luck as the garbage on the screen just moves around. With note when I move the horizontal hold, the buzzing sound does change from the fly back area, gets louder or quieter.

I'm lost and could use some help and making tracking down this issue. The game still plays as I can heard and fire so something is wrong with the monitor.

If your flyback is failing on the 4600 which it very well could be you're better off replacing the entire monitor with a better model like k7000 or even g07. I had a 4700 (13" 4600) that had a wave that wouldn't go away after doing everything you did and more and it sounded like nails on a chalk board whenever it was on because the flyback was screaming. It's unfortunate they're not replaceable because when these monitors work they look great, but overall they're super over engineered and problematic. Made a k7000 and never looked back.

there's H. Hold which is only a fine range adjustment for the hold, and then there's L351 on the XY card, which has a significantly higher range. if this problem started after you replaced the caps it means the old caps were that much out of tolerance that you have to effectively recalibrate it. L351 is the silver box in the middle with a red adjustment pot inside. it's an inductor that you need to exercise great care in adjusting because if you break it there's no replacement. I use a small precision flathead screwdriver. I just give it a turn with the game off and then turn it on and see if I can get it with H. Hold then. repeat until you achieve success.

Alright, I messed with the silver and red adjustment on the X/Y board and was unsuccessful, the screen would start to roll but the garbage stayed unchanged.

If you're noticing flyback buzz it must be pretty extreme and it gets worse and better which tells me your flyback is likely failing/failed. The flyback on these chassis seems to control the image to a certain degree it's not a normal flyback it only has a focus control not brightness. I really wish a new flyback was available for these chassis. I suggest you start snapping up 19" crt tvs and look for one with a yoke that's k7000 compatible, then get a k7000 chassis and put it in the 4600's frame. Going to rip your hair out trying to fix this, I bet if you found a donor flyback the image would come right back but in my opinion any salvaged flyback is on borrowed time and is not a viable fix even if it works. Your best solution is to upgrade to a better monitor, other will disagree but they'll also try and sell you overpriced repair services and promote their guides which don't apply to your situation.

Yea thinking it over and since their was an image after the recap and then a loud pop might've been the flyback. Will start my search for a better monitor, thank you.
