*****FIXED*****
Ok, here's my work log:
The 4600 was working fine, just "wavey" and pincushioned. It wasn't bad- but was eating away at me. I had a box full of capacitors, and did a full cap replacement- except for cap C614- 33uf 25v. (this is the only cap I had missing in my stash)
Put everything back together and powered it up.
Everything was perfect, except the lower right hand corner of the screen image was bent a little.
That made sense to me- knowing that cap C614 would probably fix that anyway.
Went to a local shop and picked up the 33uf cap I needed.
Installed and powered up, and was in full vertical collapse.
Hmmm... unplugged/ plugged back in/ adjusted knobs/ turn this-turn that- no fix.
Eventually within a minute or two the screen went blank. Oh CRAP!
Kneck glow- CHECK.
Ok, so I'm getting power.
If I turn the brightness up I get a bright white screen. It's a little "Staticky".
If I turn the color pots I do get colors. But the image is still full of interference.
Took everything back apart and re-flowed every single solder point on all three boards.
Checked all traces, and all seems well.
I'm getting the feeling that since the old caps were bad, it "slowed the system down- and once I replaced with new it opened up the flood gates and caused other parts that were failing to go ahead and quit??
Please lead me in the right direction...
