Are you sure there's no screen control on the flyback? I haven't seen a D9400, but that seems really strange, and like you said, the schematic shows the knob (w/ hot glue)... but of course hot glue won't stop you from turning it. Is there a sub brt pot on the board somewhere? IIRC my D9200 had one, which allowed you to tweak the brightness, so you'd get a good range of controls for the OSD controls (though the flyback screen control would do it too).

There is definitely only 1 knob on the flyback. The top where a knob would be has a rubber stopper thingy. The bottom knob when turned clockwise makes the pic get out of focus. As far as I can see there is no other pots or knobs on the actual boards.

Thanks,
Robert

Show us a pic. There IS a screen knob on the flyback of a 9400, probably covered in glue. So - either you don't recognize it or don't have a 9400...

I've added a few pics to this folder

http://webpages.charter.net/pinballarcade/9400/

I can't get a clear shot of the flyback cause the knob side faces the side of the cab.

I based the fact that it is a 9400 on a pic on chad's arcadecup website. There is only a bottom knob which I assumed would be screen, but it doesn't make the pic brighter.

Thanks.

Found it. It is covered in glue and is super hard to spot in this cramped cab.

Sorry. I'll try adjusting and post back.

Does this have a remote board with UP DOWN SEL MENU on it, like the D9200? If so, hold the DOWN & SEL buttons down at the same time for about 5 seconds. This will bring up the factory menu. Do a memory recall, then adjust the brightness and contrast up int he factory menu, then exit to the regular menu and adjust the brightness and factory menu, and you should be good...

On the remote it has OSD, Key-, Key+, Fun- and Fun+. Did a recall in the main menu and no change. It went to brightness 80 and going to 100 was still really dark.

Had to really dig that glue off, but now all looks good with a tiny turn of the screen knob.

Thanks.
