First display problem I've ever had, so my experience is very limited but I am more then willing to learn. I've been lurking here for quite some time so I did do plenty of reading on this issue before posting.

I picked up a game with a non-working display last week. After some cleaning and reassembly it comes time to troubleshoot display. It took me a few hours to discover that I had one of the infamous Wells Gardner D9200 series displays (33 inch). Mine has the 'click-click' syndrome which I have seen referenced. So at this point I have some questions-

Would this 'click-click' error be the Shut Down Symptom listed in the WG Troubleshooting Guide? (IC401, IC805, IC806) If not, what would it be described as?
Would these need to be replaced or just simply reflow the solder? I ask because there seems to be many complaints out there about bad solder flow from the manufacturer.
Now, would anyone know where I could find replacements (vender, part number, etc.?)
Since I have never actually seen this display 'alive' - would it be a good idea to replace the caps while I have it all apart? If so, would anyone know where I could find replacements (vender, part number, etc.?) Does anyone sell a kit?
And since it's going to be such a pain to remove, repair, and reassemble - any other suggestions of what to fix/replace while it's out?

Now, I'm no stranger to a solder iron and electronics (been working on my pinball projects for the past few years) but do you think all this repair is beyond an experienced novice? If so, anyone doing repair work with a quick turn-around?

Thanks in advance

The last two "click-click" D9200's I've had were fixed with a simple all-electrolytic-caps replacement. I'm pretty sure it was a cap in the PS section of the chassis.

One other had a bad transistor in the horizontal output section.

Basically, your over-current protection (OCP) circuit is kicking in due to a short or open somewhere.

If the cap kit doesn;t fix it, and the troubleshooting guide WG put out doesn;t help, call the WG Tech support. They'll give you a few more things to check...
