I have two Wells Gardner D9200 monitors and neither one seems to want to sync with my CPS2. Both work fine with a Neo Geo MVS at 15Khz and a Sega Naomi at both 31Khz and 15Khz. When I power on, the monitor clicks a few times, but it never shows a complete image. The best it can do is a distorted Capcom logo before settling on a black screen. I know that the CPS2 works, since I was able to connect it to a TV using a JROK encoder and it displayed normally. I only have one A board, but I tried multiple B boards and they all behave the same.

What would be the simplest option to fix this? Would adding a sync cleaner solve this, or is this possibly not a sync issue at all?

Thanks

I wish I could help. Unrelated to your issue, I stumbled across a D9200 chassis that varies from mine. Could you do me a favor when you get the chance and snap a pic of each of your neckboards and rgb input boards? (Ones mounted by two bolts on the frame?). My friend's is a variant that I believe is factory, yet is different than mine. (His is missing transistors and resistors on the neckboard for r g b.). Thanks in advance

Are you inputting the 15k via the .156" header or the DB15 connector? Try the .156" header if you have not already, different resistors are used on the signal lines vs. the VGA connection.

Thanks for the quick replies. I actually tried both connectors. I used the header initially and it worked for the MVS, but not the CPS2. Just today, I installed a CGA to VGA adapter from Mike's Arcade and everything is the same. The MVS works fine through it, but the CPS2 doesn't seem like it wants to sync. The behavior is the same regardless of how I connect it.

I've heard that the CPS2 can be very sensitive to the amount of voltage it gets. I haven't made any adjustments to the 5V going to the A board, but is it possible that could be part of the issue? I'm hesitant to make changes there, since everything else seems to work fine at the current settings.

I don't have any photos of the neck board on hand, but I can try to get some in a day or two. I believe it's the second variation and has the three transistors with heat sinks and the three large ceramic resistors.

Ok thank you. My friends has all the colors on screen but the green is too much. Problem is, the troubleshooting guide has you checking resistors and transistors that are missing
