I just got an Asteroids Deluxe in and the image is not correctly positioned on the screen (Wells Gardener 19V2000) - it sits too low, and there's about 1-2 inches of blank space on the top of the screen. I tried moving the centering rings on the yoke, but basically could not make the image get up any higher on the screen.

Is there any other way to adjust the image position?

The X gain and Y gain pots on the Asteroids Deluxe PCB change the size of the image, but not the position.

Doesn't the V2000 also have adjustment pots? Can't recall if they do position.

The centering rings should help. Not sure why your neck connector is bent, though. Have you tried bending the pins back straight?

BE sure the remove the connector from the neck before trying that.

Also that ring is not supposed to be loose like that, see the glue spots....

Image positioning on BW monitors is really done with magnets I am not kidding, the pots on the boards have nothing to do with the position only the geometry.

Yes, the centering rings should help, but even before one of them fell off, they would not adjust the position adequately. Seems like it would only move the image in the X positive and Y negative directions. I need me some Y positive travel.

There are two rings, are there supposed to be more than that?

I figured that last part just from experimenting, and I think the centering rings manipulate magnets to adjust the position of the image. The problem is, they don't, at least not in the direction I need.

Oh, and no pots on the chassis that I can see. I also looked through the manual and the diagram only showed brightness, contrast and focus pots.

Yep..magnets.
Could you be more specific? I've heard the theory about magnets centering the picture but as of yet no one has described the process. I'm having the same problem with a Go5-802. If anyone has some advice, that would be very helpful.

There are two rings
Turning both and keeping the relative rotation between them the same will adjust the direction the picture moves.
Keeping the same midpoint but making the relative rotation/gap between the tabs larger or smaller will affect the distance the image moves in the direction.
Use a mirror to see the screen face while you're adjusting it from behind, and obviously be careful.
