New chassis just arrived for my 27" 7400. Works good. Question is: what is the little Pincushion board on the chassis for? It seems to work with or without it on. If it is not necessary, then why make it?

hmmm... never really crossed my mind to sell the old chassis. Was thinking of keeping it for parts, but I'm sure I could think of a price. :)

The chassis was capped, but then had the screen shrink horizontally to the middle. I just didn't want to fuss with finding which lead was having trouble anymore. See the thread I started a couple weeks back:

Sometimes you'll find that the corners of the picture are slightly bowed out or in. When this happens, adjusting the pots on the pincushion board will help straighten it out. Without it, it'll still work, but you won't be able to adjust it if you have a problem.

The board was an optional add-on...

thanks modessitt, I figured that's what it was for. It will need to be done as the center is slightly bowed inward.

hey, what does this pincushion adjustment pcb look like? i think i could probably use one for my 7401 at it does bow in horizontally.

its a very small pcb with two pots, 3 or 4 caps, and some other junk. Total size is about 2" x 1". It plugs onto a small 5 or 6 pin set near the middle of the chassis.

This is a slightly different chassis (K7600), but you can see it circled below. This was used on the 7400, 7500, and 7600 (maybe more?):

yep, i definitely don't have one of those. don't know if there's even a spot to plug one in even if i could acquire one. ah, well, the bow isn't that bad.
