I sold a 6100 on ebay and shipped it though Fedex......this was on my doorstep when I got home tonight. I think they dropped it. I had it insured but the buyer is out the part he needed and a 6100 dies.

Definitely not packed good enough. I would have put that box inside another box with about 2in of packing around it. At least you can save the chasis.

Was the box dented at all? the padding looks okay, as most monitors ship just fine with that kind of styrofoam padding. Was it sliding at all between the styrofoam?

i shipped one last week that made it in one piece but i shipped it face down, put tons of bubble wrap around it, cardboard support around the neck and then had the ups store fill it will peanuts. ups/fedex just throw these boxes around...

The box was maybe a little small but it had 2" of styrofoam around it. More at the neck area. The bottom corners are crushed a little...not extreme. I can only imagine they dropped it. But to break a tube it takes alot of force.....weird damage. At this point I can't touch it until the claim is processed but I will save the HV and Deflection Board.

I could not slide...it was tight around it except for the neck area. Sad thing is I spent about 20 minutes packing this thing.

I know there is always a risk in shipping this kind of stuff but I have had great luck with Fedex....just sucks that it was this monitor that my luck turned.

I have been considering the idea of shipping a monitor recently. I was thinking perhaps to build shelf/bezel out of wood to set the chassis on and bolt it to, just like it was in a cab, then build a crate around it with that shelf/bezel bolted into it. It would be heavy and probably cost a lot to ship, but it would get there in one piece...

I have shipped quite a few monitors the same way and never had a problem. You just can't know how packages are handled once they leave you....

Sad thing is the Tracking information indicates it was damaged in the same town that it was going to be delivered to....meaning it ALMOST made it. They then diverted the delivery back to me. There was no email or anything indicating there was a problem...just a box at my front door. They could have communicated better.

Well that monitor was on route to my place !! You guys should have seen the look on my face when I saw those pictures :( Now I need another 6100. If anyone has one they would like to sell let me know. Thanks......

When I had to ship on to Japan I shipped it in a monitor box, removed the neck board and surrounded the neck in cardboard boxes and filled any extra space with bags of packing peanuts. Made it just fine but yeah, risky business I tell ya.

Welcome to the Fedex Bowl.....

That is why I always look longingly at monitors and then don't bid if there is shipping involved...:(

Ask Chris, he shipped a box of glass to me once. Not his fault, it got sent through the Fedex Bowl as well.
