Hey guys,

I have a WG 6100 that was working in a Space Duel. I did a full parts kit, flyback and I guess what is considered a "cap kit" for the 6100 and now it doesn't work. The monitor displayed a big colorful circle and periodically worked but would sometimes display too large. I would say it was sporadic in nature. I pulled the monitor to check my work and noticed a cement resistor wasn't fully soldered in. I fixed that and reflowed numerous solder joints including some pin connectors on the main monitor board but after that, the monitor displayed nothing. I actually smoked an IC chip on the main pcb. I'm at a loss... Who does work on these things? I feel like I just need to have someone fix it. Suggestions???

Don't give up yet. There's folks on here who may be able to help you get it going yourself. I'm no expert but first....how do you know you fried a chip? What were the exact symptoms? Is the spot-killer led on? Are you sure it was the chip that smoked? Are you sure you have everything plugged in correctly? Sometimes leaving something disconnected can cause smoke too.

These are all things that I need to check. I just lack the know how on what to check and patience on these things. I know I screwed up a chip on the main game pcb because it smoked and cratered.

I'll check these things when I get home tomorrow and I'll post my findings. Thanks in advance.

Well sending it to be repaired is always an option as well. I don't know who does 6100's like that but I'm sure someone will chime in shortly.

I do 6100's - everything but the 6 deflection transistors on the frame (unless you want to ship the entire monitor). You can get the transistors from BobRob...
