WG 6100 what is this weird board

sticking out of the back of the deflection board.

This 6100 was "repaired" back in the day in it's first couple years of life as it's got some axial caps in spots meant for radial caps. Then the deflection board has this thing on it.

This monitor hasn't been touch in 28 years or so however.

Nice but they really should have insulated those leads, or put it on standoffs...

I have one of those that blew about 3-4 transistors apart on it. I actually remove those from deflection boards and put LV2000 or 6100's in their place. Takes a little work to put it all back but not too hard. Basically just follow the directions backwards from the Major Havoc guide.

I don't think the LV2000 does anything like what that board does.

That Atari board was an Input protection mod that was supposed to keep the monitor board from blowing up when the game boards outputs went crazy, didnt work.

The LV2000 keeps the voltage that drives the transistors from going crazy (and thus blowing them up) when the game board goes crazy.

LV2000 for the win. Atari/Wells should have figured out that mod rather then messing with the inputs.
