I have a Wells Gardner 591382 13 Inch monitor that I pulled from a working redemption game. I had it hooked up on the floor to one of my Pirate Treasure cabs, It was getting power but I had sync issues with my board or a connector. I then get out a harness I pulled from a Lerechaun in a later style cabinet. (Harness is more direct and simplified) I replace the power supply which only had 2 of the 3 lights on. But I am not getting any power to the monitor. The only differences are cabinet one has the power to the monitor comes from a plug that goes into the bottom of the cabinet and a switching power supply (For overall power). My make shift test rig has the power for the monitor come from the ISO and has a linear power supply (For overall power).

Why would the monitor work on one but not the other?

Thanks Steven

Well, first off - that WG # isn't helping us ID the model. if you can't do so on Bob's site, post a pic.

2nd - was the monitor powered via an iso both times? If it wasn't in one instance, then you most likely blew the fuse, and possibly the VR and some diodes.

3rd - have you checked to make sure that you have power at the connector in the setup where it doesn't work?

591382 is certainly NOT a model number. All we know for sure is that it's a Wells-Gardner monitor. But which of the hundreds of models they made is it?

Actually, we may only know it's a WG tube or frame. I often see a frame swapped with some other manufacturer, but there is still a WG sticker on the frame...

Yes that is the tube number but also said it was the chasis number on the side of the frame.

Generation one Moppet cabinets didn't have the monitor go directly to the ISO. There are two plugs at the bottom next to the ISO and power. I belive the switching power supply plugs into one and the monitor the other.

I didn't blow anything as I took the monitor to Pirate Treasure cabinet #2 and it powers on but still having sync issues even though I am using a different board. Was hoping to get it up and running on the test rig to see if it had sync issues on the generation 2 harness.

I have everything hooked up right so no idea why I am getting sync issues. It is hard to explain. It is like the pic is cut and sliced vertically at a angle but has static as well. If you have seen the game before you can tell what is the game screen and what is the title screen but you can't make anything out. Probably something small I am missing.

I am thinking of calling a tech but most of them know zip about Moppets. If I can figure it out it will greatly help me in fixing mt other ones as I have had this issues before.

Thanks Steven

Just looked and couldn't find a model number. I did hook up the RGB to another monitor in a cab (A WG 13" with daughter cards) and it has the same sync issues. So it isn;t the monitor causing the sync issues (I already knew that but figured some here might think it was.)

Yes that is the tube number but also said it was the chasis number on the side of the frame.

That number is probably neither the tube number or the chassis number....it's one digit short of being a serial number. Serial number labels were placed on every component of a monitor, so it's easy enough to find the same number on tube, the chassis, the frame, etc.

If you can't identify it, snap a picture of it and post here.

From quickly reading through your thread, you still haven't proven anything.

A sync issue could be:
1. Incorrectly wired sync.
2. Incorrectly adjusted monitor even if wired correctly (you need identify it for help there)
3. The game pcb is outputting the wrong sync for those monitors
4. The game pcb has bad sync output (unlikely, but possible)

If I had to take a guess from my Google search a WG 13k4800 (Basicly the same as a 19K4900)

A sync issue could be:
1. Incorrectly wired sync.

Sync is wired up as it orginally was.

2. Incorrectly adjusted monitor even if wired correctly (you need identify it for help there)

One monitor appears to be a 4800 and the other a 13" version of a 4700

3. The game pcb is outputting the wrong sync for those monitors

One of these monitors came with the cabinet which had Leprechaun and was displayed on the screen correctly. Lep is same pin out as Pirate Treasure.

4. The game pcb has bad sync output (unlikely, but possible)

Doubtful as I have two PCB's doing the same thing and have had this problem in the past.

The ribon cable between the main board and video interface board sometimes causes problems but it is in tight and did the same thing on both game boards (Two different cables and video interface boards)

Got the sync issues fixed. It was the horizontal hold. But I created new issues. LOL While trying to bend the metal on the frame so the monitor would go in something came lose on the monitor chasis (Rectangle and white). It caused the monitor to come up with just a straight line across it. I put it back where it goes (Needs to be solidered but it's fine for now.) and got my picture back. I finally get it in my game but get nothing on the screen. I realize I have one side of the cable that connects the boards upside down. I fix it but still no pic, but I do have game sounds. I figured out I didn't hook up a connector (I forgot I went with the less direct orginal way of doing RGB). I get it hooked up and no pic or game sounds. I looked at it and the main board was touching the monitor frame. I pull it away and I get a few dots on the sceen then a blue screen along with game sounds. I think crap I just ruined my board. I was going to try another board but decided to take the chip that touched the monitor out and replace it from board #3. After replacing the video interface board as I had swapped them out thinking that was the problem the game is up and running. Only thing left to do is adjust the screen size so I can see the score and put some cardboard in to protect the main board. What is cool is I though I was using the working monitor I got out of the 10 dollar redemption game I bought at the last auction, but after getting the monitor in I notice "Tugboat" burn in. So it was one of the untested monitors I got with the two junker Tugboat cabs I recently bought.

Next project is to work on another Pirate Treasure. By the end of the year I hope to have 5 working Pirate Treasures lined up.
