Per my other post, I'm currently rebuilding this monitor. I came across this and don't think its a hack, just the wrong type cap used. And value.

I'm referring to the metal silver cap, upside down and to the right. It has two wires, green and black going to the board. And a white zip tie around it... The bottom of the board looks OK, no burns or obvious damage, so not exactly sure why someone did this, other then its the kind of cap they had at the time.

The cap as you see it is a 400mfd/200V.

My manual states it should be a 330uf/200V. Can someone verify this for me?

Also, is it a snap in place, or a radial lead? Looks to me like it should be a snap in.

After this, I should have no more questions! It's half capped already...

Thanks!

330uF/200V @ C605 is correct. I'm guessing whoever replaced yours couldn't find one with the same footprint, so they just zip tied it to the side and ran the wires. The original cap is a 4-terminal (tab) type but you can replace it with a regular 2-leaded radial.

Right on! Thank you sir!

Got one picked out from Mouser and added to my list.
