The WG 4600 in my Galaxian usually has an awesome bright picture , but sometimes when I'm playing , the picture will instantly go darker and the colors get faded . After a day or so I'll turn on the game and it returns to normal . What needs to be fixed ? Thanks ,

I had this exact same thing happen to a recapped 4900 in a Galaxian. I'd adjust it, it'd go dark again. I'd get it looking great, it'd go dark again. I'd turn it on the next day, great pic, 20 minutes later, dark. I messed with the solder on the header, the wires, etc. Nothing would cure it. My fix was to swap it out with a G07.

Nooooo !!!

I hope I don't have to swap it out .

Seriously when its working normal , which is most the time , it has an amazing picture ! mrbill2084 was over one time and he said it had a real nice picture .

Well, you could rejuv it. it might have a short on the heater that is redirecting voltage.

It could also be a problem with the blk level pot on the left daughtercard, or even the cap or solder for that card...

Ok , I'll check it out . thanks ,

Has the monitor been recapped and the black level pot replaced?

I don't know . I haven't done anything to the monitor since I got it . When it works , it has super bright colors and a sharp picture , no other signs it needs a cap kit . But since I'm gonna have to pull it apart I can cap it if it might help .

I was gonna replace the black level pot and reflow solder where the two cards meet the main chassis .

I'll order the parts soon from bob . Any other parts I should get ?

Black level pot
Cap kit

the 3 kits i got 2 months agoe from bob had the pots in them
your talking about the one you put on the oppisite side of the left card that was the one that was in the kit had a blue nob on it to adjust it with

I read that if you give a G07 a cap kit , it will cause the other old parts like the flyback to crap out . Does the 4600 have any other parts I should change with the cap kit to prevent something like this ? thanks for the help ,

this is very similar to the issue mine had awhile back. there is an extensive thread about it.
I rejuved it 2 or 3 times with no change, after doing the cap kit,and black pot replacement.

Mine was a bad tube we determined.

Could you post a link to that thread ? thanks ,

So I gave the cab a little shake to see if its some type of loose connection and the picture went back to normal . Does that mean it might be a loose connection and not a tube problem ?

I had that exact same problem on my 1942 last night, it also has a WGK4600 in it that is in excellent condition. I was testing a second 1942 PCB that I have and I did not quite have the wire harness edge connector tight. Once I got the wire harness edge connector snugged up to the game board, picture was nice and bright. If your problem is the same as mine was, it may not be a monitor problem. Double check to see if your game board wire harness is loose.

The G07 in particular is notorious for blowing the old flybacks after a rebuild, I (and many others) always recommend changing the flyback on those when doing a rebuild.

Your problem could be a bad connection or solder joint where the daughter cards plug in. (either on the card themselves or the main chassis)
