I recapped this 4600. And for some reason it has a dark area in the top right corner you can see in the pic. Does anyone know what would cause this? Yes i know the colors arent adjusted. I have been messing with everything trying to get this dark area to go away. When you turn it on from cold, it doesn't have this black area it gradually starts while it warms up.

Man, that is very strange. I'd suspect the mask inside the tube, except it's heat related so that wouldn't be it. Do you have another 4600 where you can swap the daughterboards one at a time and see if you can figure out which board it's on?

I've seen that on a K7000 but it showed up in the center of the screen. Turned out to be the IC on the main deflection board that handles the vertical and horizontal drives.

Do you have any extra daughter cards for the 4600? Its probably something in the Horiz/Vert board.

I'd also tripple check that the caps are in right and in the right place (as in the values are right).

Yeah i have another 4600 that i recapped that works perfect. I'll swap out the daughter boards to see if it fixes it. Thanks for the help.

Don't know how i missed it when i rebuilt the monitor. But the neck board has been ROASTED before. Hole burnt right thru it. And a piece of wire soldered in with a pin soldered to the end of it going thru the hole into the connector.

Going to rebuild the rest of the spare 4600 i have and acquire a replacement chassis for this one eventually.
