Hi everyone,
I need some advise.
I just bought a nonworking Star Trek Voyager cockpit off ebay. I have a new Voyager kit I can put in if I cant get the board that came in the game to work. Right now when I apply power All I get is neck glow in the monitor. The PCX power supply for the computer seems to be dead, fan doesn't come on but it has ac Going into it.
I figure I would start with the monitor. It's a WG Model 39K7601. As I said I have neck glow but nothing else.
I figured I would start with a Bob Roberts cap Kit but I figured I would ask if their was anything else I should order. On Bob's site he lists the K7000 as a 13"/19"/25" color. Would the 39" also be the same?
On his monitor ID page he has 2 K7000 chasses pictured but neither look like mine.He also sells a WG K7000 Flyback repair kit which includes
1 flyback transformer
1 cap kit
1 HOT (2SD1398)
1 Fuse F1- 1.5ASB
1 Tantalum cap C51
Would this be my best bet to have everything I need to fix this monitor?
Thanks for the help.

Are you sure the monitor is dead? With no signal, it just might look black. try turning up the brightness...

Thanks for the reply,
Yep turned up the brightness and nothing,no HV or deflection noise and no static electricity on the screen. Just seems totally dead except for the neck glow.

Some monitors won't "turn on" without a video signal applied. Not sure if this model is one of those, but if you have another med-res game around you can hook up....

Good news, seems you were right. I decided to get the game computer up and running. It appeared the ATX power supply was dead. Took it apart and the fuse looks good and I don't see anything that looks bunt but it was full of dust bunny's. I had a new ATX power supply a little under rated but had all voltages and connectors so I plugged it in and fired it up and the game booted up and came to life. I now have a picture on the monitor and I played a game after I set it for free play sense they stripped the coin door.. It dose need a cap kit because with the contrast and brightness all the way up the screen is still a little dark and I have some hourglass bowing in the middle on the right side of the screen and theirs black on the top of the screen . Might be low HV or just needs a cap kit but the colors look nice.
So now looks like I need a cap kit so which one do I get and who do I get it from?
Here's a picture of the chasse I borrowed from The Arcade Cup. WG Model 39K7601
Thanks again for the help.

Didn't see any of the normal parts places selling a cap kit for that, not even WG. You might have to make your own by looking at your own caps, or from searching through the schematic on WG's site.

Or ask Chad if you can make you one if he has the list...

I emailed the Real Bob Roberts and showed him what I had and he doesn't have a cap kit for it. Seems this monitor came out after he retired and he has never seen one. He told me to put a list together and he would put together what I need. It's not the first time I had to do this, I had a monitor in a Space Panic no one had a cap kit for so I had to make a list from the caps on the board. Their doesn't seem to be much info on this monitor but I was lucky enough to have the Wells-Gardner replacement parts list with the schematics. It lists all the diodes, integrated circuits, transformers, transistors, potentiometers and miscellaneous parts but doesn't list the cap's.I took pictures of the parts list and I'll post them here. Maybe they will help someone in the future.

That monitor is really similar to a K7500. The caps will probably be about the same.

Rather than than, they can just download it here:

http://www.wellsgardner.com/pdf/spec/K7600_39.pdf

http://www.wellsgardner.com/pdf/Schematics/K7600_39_inch.pdf

You can either go through the entire schematic with a highlighter and mark all the polarized electrolytics, and make a list that way, or pull each cap and write its location and value down, then place an order, using your list to reinstall the caps....

effing sweet.

does your monitor have pincushion and trapezoid adjustments? might wayt to see if you can adjust it out before you dig into it and possible giver yourself more headache..

so all you had wrong was a power supply... you lucky bastage!!!

i want one of those someday... we can all dream i guess.

Not sure if it has a pincushion and trapezoid adjustments but sense the game is 8 years old I figure it needs a cap kit and if nobody has touched any of the adjustments then after a new cap kit maybe it will be close. Yea I got lucky. The game is in pretty good shape, even still has the factory side curtains. Here are my remaining problems. The game was broken down in it's 4 parts and they lost all the screws/bolts that hold it together. I cant find the exact type but have regular bolts that will work. The next problem is the coin door. It's like new but they striped all the hardware down to the bear door but left the dollar bill unit. I mean they took the coin mech holders, insert buttons and coin returns and cut the wires going to the coin up switch. Not at the switch but as far down as they could get. They left the wires for the dollar bill acceptor but the AC plug was unhooked. I plugged it in and it appears dead so probably why they left it. I can set the game on free play and don't need the coin door but I like to have all my games working 100% and set for .984 tokens/25 cents. Got a big bucket of tokens. So if someone out their has a Star Trek Voyager cockpit and can take some pictures of the inside wiring to the coin door I sure would appreciate it. I almost forgot, it's missing the left space gun but I have a new one on the way so I would say it shouldn't take to long to have this game back to it's former glory.
Thanks for any help,

Any help with the coin door is appreciated. I emailed Team Play but don't expect any help. They never answered my email back when I bought the kit. Their doesn't seem to be many Voyager owners here. If I just knew if the red 10 pin plug went to the coin door that would be a big help.
I think my ICT A6 bill acceptor is bad. If I understand how they work when I plug the AC power to it the LED's should light up but it's just dead.
Where are all the Voyager game owners? Help
Thanks,

If you understand how to read a standard JAMMA wiring diagram you should be able to wire up the coin switches without too much trouble. As far as the mechanical parts on the doors goes, it uses a Happ Controls Mid-Width Over/under door. All the parts that might be missing can be purchased from Happ controls directly.

Thanks Matt, Yea it wont be to bad , after all it's just a coin door. I just like to keep my games as original as I can even with the wiring harness so a picture showing an original wired up door would be nice. The kit I have came with a standard JAMMA harness and all the wire ends were labeled but the cockpit has a harness with Molex connectors. I'll just have to make note of the wire colors and trace the wires down and go from their.
Thanks for the reply. I still remember you helping me back in 2004 when I was trying to figure out if I had to hook up a second power supply to the kit JAMMA harness.
Thanks again

I should be getting over to my storage this weekend, and I'll take the camera along....

Thought I would post an update and sense this is the monitor forum I'll limit it to the monitor. I have another post I'll address the coin door issue in.
Well I took the schematic and hi-lighted all the polarized electrolytic's and made a list. I came up with a total of 31 caps. I placed an order with Mouser, they had all but one which is a 390uf@400V which appears to be in the power supply section so I might get by without replacing that one. I decided to Waite and do the cap replacement last, want to get everything else complete and working before the monitor as it's still very playable the way it is. Hopefully it wont be to long, just waiting for a space gun and coin door. When I cap the monitor and if it works I will post the list of caps and some pictures.
Thanks,
