Hi,
I just bought a machine with a 27K7391 monitor in it. The seller said it was a med res monitor but it does not appear to be. Can anyone please verify if this monitor is std or med resolution?

Thanks...

I'm on my phone now so I can't look stuff up.

Does it work? What game is it in?

It is in a Golden Tee 2005. It works but looks really crappy. Golden Tees need a med res monitor and this monitor is like 20 years old. I don't know why the guy would have put such an old monitor in a Golden Tee.

a 7391 isn't really "old" when compared to others. Normally I see them with K7500's or U5000's. And even those newer kinds can look "crappy" after a few years. Just needs to be rebuilt.

And Golden Tee will work with either a standard or medium resolution monitor. There is a dip switch on the game pcb to flip between resolutions (with the game off). If you have a steady picture now (no double image), then check to see what it is set for and that is the resolution of that monitor...

Thanks for the reply, but I mainly bought the machine to put the monitor in my Golden Tee Complete which has a WG D9200 and had a really crisp, good picture when it worked. But the 27K7391 looks like poop compared to the other one. Makes the graphics look like an older Golden Tee 98 or something. Do you know if the 7391 can do med res?

Well of course it's going to look different. The D9200 is a digital tri-res and the 7391 is probably an analog standard-res.

Why are you pulling the D9200 if it looked good? Just get it fixed...

I was told the D9200's are not worth fixing and that no one likes working on them. I should have just bought a brand new monitor instead of trying to get one from a used machine. Lesson learned I guess. If you know of someone that can repair my chassis I would be willing to send it to them. It has a horizontal width issue but I can also smell something burning in it so I don't think just a cap kit will fix it.

Horizontal width? As in - it works but is too wide? Or there is a line up and down on the screen?

If I still had a good tube to test them, I could fix it. I'm not sure if chad at arcade cup can do so or not. I know Wells-Gardner can fix it cheaper than buying a new one...

It has a picture but is only about 6 inches wide. It goes the full height top to bottom, just not from side to side. I attached a pic of it so you can see. Thanks for all your help so far, I really appreciate it. I really want to get this fixed. I am capable of making repairs to this myself if you can recommend something. I am just not real experienced with diagnosing monitors. I also have an oscilloscope if there is something you think I should check.

Let me ask you, when you disconnect the video signal, do you get the "no signal" box across the screen normally? Or is it scrunched like that, too?

Well, pull the chassis and look it over. You could replace all the caps (72 of them) and check it over for signs of a burnt part (that you say you smelled). I know the clone by Vision Pro had an inductor that would burn up sometimes...

That sounds like a lot of work and my time is relatively limited. It would rather find a good D9200 chassis if possible.
