I picked up a SSB yesterday with a WG 27D9204 monitor and the game image is somewhat blurry and twisted at a angle. I tried adjusting the tilt pot but it had no effect. Any ideas on what may be going on with it? Also where can I buy a cap kit for it?

Thanks for any help!

as its a digital monitor, when you said you adjusted the tilt pot, did you adjust thru the on screen menu? as I think might be option to adjust picture like that?

The plastic parts of the yoke have broken and caused the yoke to slip waaayyy out of place on the tube neck. This is a very common problem on the 9200 series monitors. Wells had a whole run of bad yokes. The plastic broke from the heat because the plastic was too thin and flimsy.

Mick, there is a adjustment pot on the chassis that was suppose to adjust the screen tilt. I take it if the yoke has slipped the OEM location the adjustment pot on the chassis don't do sh*t. Now back to the yoke being out of wack/guides being broke. Is this something I can fix pretty easy?

The method of repairing the broken yoke is described (and with pictures too) at Vendor Amusements' forum:

I am repairing the dreaded broken WG 9200 yoke, following directions in the link
provided by Ken Layton. I positioned the yoke pretty accurately, using broken pieces for registration and silicon glue to hold everything in place. Picture is square and the correct size, but I need help cleaning up some convergence and color purity issues. The purity rings are still glued together as a set, but can be moved and rotated on the neck. I have not been successful getting complete convergence at both the top and bottom of the screen. Also, when checking the solid color test screens, RED has some Green in the upper right corner and some BLUE along the right edge. Green has some Blue in the upper left corner. The solid Blue screen also has some Red in the upper left corner of the screen. I have not yet found a position for the ring set that corrects these issues.

This is my first attempt at this type of repair. There is no substitute for knowledge & I'm hoping to find some here! Thanks, Denny

I found the information I needed to complete the WG 9200 broken yoke repair. The color bleed issue was corrected by moving the yoke assembly forward about 1/8", or until a solid test color flooded the screen. I also found that the front edge of the ring assembly should line up with the gap at the first color gun, in the neck of the tube, closest to the screen.

I now have a perfect picture. A big thanks to John at Wells Gardner for his assistance.
