I have a question that I will pose to the group. I bought a game today for the cabinet/monitor. It has a Turkey Hunting USA board in it and a WG 25K7401. After searching the threads on the monitor I found it to be a standard resolution monitor. When I look up Turkey Hunting USA on the KLOV it lists:

Monitor:

* Orientation: Horizontal
* Type: Raster: VGA Resolution
* CRT: Color

So, I am confused by the standard (CGA) resolution of the monitor and the VGA resolution listed on the site. The game displays fine. What am I missing? I always thought standard = CGA and and VGA was higher resolution.
Thanks,
Daniel

First off, KLOV isn't always correct when it comes to monitor resolutions.

You should always refer to the game manuals.
Some of those games are switchable for different resolution monitors, so yours may be switched to be used on a CGA monitor.
I dunno for sure.....I haven't looked up the manual for yours.

Does that game have a dip switch for changing resolutions? The KLOV database does not have a setting for "Selectable Resolution" or "Dual-Res" as of yet, so one of the possible resolution choices is chosen. When I know of the options, I try to add them as a note directly below the resolution line.

And another thing to consider would be if the games were in production for many years, with technical changes made. If it was made one year with standard-res, then had a program change and made the next year with VGA (due to a lack of CRT's), the same game could be made with both types. Then when it was submitted to the database, it would go in as the version that was submitted. I know in the past that they try to have different pages for certain types of upgrades (like all the different versions of Golden Tee), but if it's the same game, then it may just be listed in the technical or trivia sections of the game page.

And, of course, the info could just be wrong. I have encountered several instances where the info was incorrect, and changed it once I had verified it independently. If you (or anyone) determines that the info is indeed correct - or is correct but incomplete (like a dual-res dip-switch option) - then submit the info and we shall get it changed as we catch up.

BTW - if you DO submit new info, please include a reference or link to a reference that tells us why you think so. It will save time. I can't always take memory as fact, i.e. "I saw a game 10 years ago and am pretty sure it had this..."

Thanks for the info. The only manual I have is the conversion kit manual and it does not discuss resolution of the monitor but there is no dip switch for resolution. I did find out that Deer Hunting USA is basically the same game that came out in the same year from the same company. KLOV lists this as standard resolution.
