Alright peeps,

So I recently did a monitor swap and installed a new Wells Gardner 25" K7000. Before the monitor swap my previous monitor was lightly burnt and had a curl at the top of the monitor. I swapped it for the K7000 and I again received the same curl but smaller. What could be doing this? I have it connected to a MVS-2 Slot.

Anywhere I should start for troubleshooting?

Neo Geos w/K7000's are notorious for this. Try adjusting the horizontal hold to see if that helps. If you google Neo Geo top wave/curl, etc you should get a bunch of threads on it.

I've seen some threads for it but I've also seen issues with the Sync Cable. If I am adjusting the Horizontal Hold would I do that on the front pots or the pots on the chassis? I would also like to mention I am able to straighten out the image but it is too far to the right to be centered.

Yeah, the MVS boards have a bunch of sync issues. The horizontal hold is in the back and on the chassis. Start there.

Sounds good. Out of curiosity do you happen to know where the H Hold pot is located? I am looking at pictures, schematics and diagrams but I'm unsure which one it is.

Small pot, on the chassis, next to the flyback. Hopefully some tweaking will do the trick.

Ooo that is going to be hard to reach but I will try it. It's not going to zap me right?

just touch plastic.

I don't know if this was a common thing at all, but I had this Neo I worked on years ago where the video plug wasn't wired right. they had the composite sync going to the negative vertical sync (pin 9) instead of negative horizontal sync (pin 10) where it belonged. I was really spinning my wheels trying to get that curl out until I noticed that.

I'll go ahead and check the pins. I know that the first piece of the connector has RED, GREEN, and BLUE. Then the second part of the connector has GND and SYNC but I connected it to the chassis following the previous configuration (take note that this has been an issue before the monitor had been replaced), so if this were to be an issue I will go ahead and check when I get home.

Pictures of the pot locations and the infamous "50/60" pot are here:

Sometimes, just adjusting the 50/60 pot can clear up "foldover" or other such troubles at the very top or very bottom of the screen.

Naturally I assume you have already recapped this 30 year old chassis.
