Just got a Space Invaders with this monitor in it. I verified that both the .75 and 1.5 amp fuses are good. I'm getting neck glow with no problem. However, when I attempt to measure for the 75V at R211 and ground, I'm getting nothing back. Why do I get neck glow if the chassis itself doesn't seem to be getting power? Any tips on diagnosing this issue? I also checked for 120V coming in and that seems fine.

The heater gets its voltage directly from T101 transformer so as along as your getting power to the large transformer you will most likely have neck glow. The best place i have found to test for 73v is at pin 2. How many volts do you see there?

Thanks. I didn't realize those were test pins. I checked there and still no voltage. I'm guessing given the relative lack of availability of this chassis that I'm going to have to go over each component. Anyone know where to start? A cap kit was done on it but not by me. So, I'm thinking that's my first step.

I'd start with checking to see if you have voltage after the bridge rectifier. It looks like a good place to test it is at R123 under the chassis, you should see ~97v there. if not test the AC off the primary coil of T101. If you do have the 97v I'd then test transistor Q101 the 73v Regulator and Q102.

I found that my .75 amp fuse holder was resisting a bit after I noticed the AC coming off of it jumping up and down continually. So, I reflowed the solder connections and noticed a big improvement in the voltage reading. As far as getting past the bridge rectifier, I was able to measure 74.4V at the 3.9 kohm resistor just past it which is R123 I believe. After that I get nothing. So, I'm thinking it makes sense to swap out the transistor. Only problem is that I can't find a manual with the parts list for the actual components on anything other than the actual board. The component list for the parts on the platter holding the board doesn't seem to exist. The transistor I have there is made by RCA and has a part number that I can't seem to get back any results for in a search. Anyone know the part number for Q101?

Thanks.

It looks like my copy of the manual didn't have the component page. I found another one that does. So, I have the part number for Q101 now. Probably worth replacing just to be sure.

could you PM me a link to it if you got it in pdf?

if you hit a dead end and want it repaired and rebuilt once right I would be happy to be of service..
I know I have some extra platters needed if it comes down to that or for proprietary component harvesting.
best wishes on it!. -Chad.
