Hi, I have a couple unrelated questions but hopefully I can split them up well enough.

I have two of these monitors with issues, from a Cyberball cabinet. One of them was dead when I got it, with sparks coming from the flyback. I was just going to order the flyback kit from Bob Roberts when I noticed the board was pretty beat up. Could someone take a look at the pictures and tell me if it will be worth trying to repair?

My next issue was, I think, caused by me doing something stupid. My 2nd monitor worked fine with NBA Hangtime, up until I tried testing a new board. I spent weeks trying to get this Gauntlet Dark Legacy board working, and finally got it up by raising the voltage on the power supply. The problem was that when I went back to the NBA Hangtime board I was getting some funky monitor issues, like vertical rolling. I was adjusting the vertical hold with a small screwdriver, and being dumb I decided to peek around to the front of the cabinet while adjusting. Long story short I slipped off the knob and tapped something with the screwdriver and now have complete vertical collapse, just a thin line in the middle of the screen.

I haven't really gotten into it yet, but I have Randy Fromm's troubleshooting guide and a list of what I think I need to check: R91, R83, R82, C50, C48, D25, and something on IC2 or 3? If anyone has any idea on what I might have tapped or some good tips I would really appreciate it.

One option for me is to just steal components off the first chassis if you guys think it has too many battle scars, in order to fix the monitor that was recently working.

Thats fugly but I'd put a fryback on it. I repaired a 27" tv that had a 1 inch hole burnt through the board by a bad solder point on the horizontal output. Still works to this day.

As for the second thing - look around the vertical hold adjustment and see if you could have stabbed anything and bent or broke a part, especially the actual vertical hold pot and vertical size pot. Wells used ceramic pots that are very prone to breakage if you push too hard on em. Look very hard and you may see a hairline crack. If so just get a pot kit (or the individual pots) from Bob when you order the fryback.

If its any help - Harbor Freight and other places sell a little mirror on an extended arm - that really helps in adjusting monitors without remote boards. (Its called a telescoping mirror and apparently their site is down for maintenance at the moment so I can't link to it).
