I'm considering to buy a Super Sprint that has some missing color as you can see below. I'm wondering how involved it would be to fix this for an amateur like me (I've only swapped pieces in my repair experience). Does this look like one or more of the color amplifiers needs to be replaced, and if so, can those transistors be swapped with some basic soldering? Appreciate your help!

It looks like your green gun is on full blast. This could be a problem with the game board but it is more likely a problem with the monitor. The 4900 series monitor is very well documented so you should be able to fix it, however it is a med res monitor so if it can't be fixed (very unlikely) then you will have a hard time finding a reasonably priced replacement.

It doesn't look like any colors are missing, as they can all be seen.

First, turn the green down slightly. Then recap it if it hasn't been done. Then rejuv the tube. Then adjust your colors. You should have a much better picture...

And if you care about price, my buddy got his for $300, in really good shape.

Thanks guys. I meant to say I think the color is missing some intensity, not that one is missing completely. Anyway I agree, it looks like the green is too high. I'll try adjusting that before I buy. Good tips. Do WG monitors like this one typically need to be rejuvenated, and do they usually take well to it?

Thanks tron guy for the price compare, 300 is way under what the guy is asking. Would your buddy like to sell his to me? :)

Word of warning..If you fix games before you buy them, you lose negotiating room and you may even lose the whole sale.

Many sellers are getting rid of games because they dont want to pay for repairs. If you fix it, problem solved...for them.

Good point Brick Top. I was planning to go in with a price already negotiated for the game especially since its a long drive for me. I'm also considering walking him through some of the easy repair steps remotely to see if its a quick fix even at the chance he'll want more $ if it works, because if its not a quick fix I'll probably bail on it for now as I don't have time right now (small kids) to spend on getting a rejuv, etc.

Tron guy - I thought you meant for the game, but I guess you mean for the monitor. :p Good to know the cost of the monitor.
