Got a centipede cockpit and it's got an inch or two of black space at the bottom. I'd like to center it better, but can't figure out how. Looks like there may be a horizontal adjustment pot, but when I put an adjustment tool in there, it feels as if it is spinning, but no adjustment is happening. Any other possibilities without replacing the horizontal coil?

I was disappointed too. The wiring and monitor look like a mess. Looks like a real pain to pull the monitor from my initial looking, parts of the monitor assembly( I think the fly back) looked bolted directly to the cabinet.

Cockpit? Doh! Meant to say cocktail.

If you've got several inches of blank space, the horizontal width coil will never adjust that much.......horizontal width coil adjustments.....you'll get 1/2 an inch or so, at best.

You'll have to change the value of the horizontal retrace cap (big polypropylene cap...C615). Also, unless your 4700 is a very early run....you'll have two jumpers towards the edge of the main PCB.....one should be labeled vertical...the other horizontal. These will shift the entire image.

...and looking at the pictures....that's all original caps. At this point, a cap kit is always a good idea.

How do I change the value of that cap, Ed? I'll look for the place to change the horizontal value near the edge of the board and see if that does anything. I knew a cap kit was in order, but was trying to adjust things as best I could before doing that. I'll talk to you more about it when I pick up my Gorf guts from you
