we've seen your arcade pics: how about just signs?

The sign on the door to my backyard arcade shack.

Sign...

That has to be one of my favorite signs, actually. How did you get it made?

Thanks! I did the graphics in photoshop (modified an original image of the actual Apollo 11 emblem and tons of clean up on it)...and then I had Rich at This Old Game print it, mount it to wood...and then put black T-molding around it.

I made a prototype where I printed the graphic myself, had it laminted-gloss...and then mounted it to foam core. Turned out pretty cool and it reacted under the black lights so I hung it up as well!.....

Thats cool I was just wondering. I used to have a bunch of concert shirts but when I got married my wife came accross them and thought they were just shirts with holes in them and threw them away. I had AC/DC,Motley Crue,Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,White Snake,Billy Squire and a few others. Needless to say I wasnt very happy when I discovered them gone. So yah cool.

I have a friend who had a compulsion to keep every t-shirt he ever owned. Tons of band shirts, 80's advert tee's etc. His mom made them all into badass t-shirt quilts.

Don't know what a t-shirt quilt is? Google it. You will be on the phone with your quilting grandma right after you see the first pic.

That's awesome, all that work to get them made seems definitely worth it!

What's the change machine sitting on? I have a similar sized change machine and am looking for some ideas of how to mount it or what to sit it on.

Change Machine Stand...

What's the change machine sitting on? I have a similar sized change machine and am looking for some ideas of how to mount it or what to sit it on.

Well...I struggled trying to find an original Ardac stand for my change machine...and eventually gave up. Then I figured since my arcade room is limited on space and I had an old file cabinet I wasn't using....the extra storage was a bonus. So I made a stand out of it. I had to reinforce the top of the cabinet with 3/4" plywood because those change machines are HEAVY. I also ran the plug through the cabinet and out the side so it made it seem like it was a complete unit. The brown handles matched the change machine perfect. The change machine is also bolted to the wall so little ones can hang on it without the fear of it tipping over.

I store my keys for all the games, manuals, etc. in it.....very functional for my little home arcade. Here are a few more shots:

I don't think I posted my signs in your signs thread yet Jimmy. Here are some signs from my game room:

I hope you like the pics of my signs.

These are promo fliers I made for the window of our store, Robot City Games, to showcase the fact we've added some arcade machines. There's also a Donkey Kong that I didn't save to jpg for some reason.

Very very cool. I like the whole set-up.

Here is the sign I designed - I just need to make it somehow. I can't decide whether I should backlight it or do something completely different.

That'll be hard to neon. Perhaps a backlit glass or something?

Still love that gameroom of yers Robb, I need to come over and finally see it sometime....guh.

Phet, wicked nice signs man.

Totally OT, is your VAPS updated dude? Or do you really only have FIVE machines now?

I started updating my VAPS a few weeks back and got sidetracked. Thanks for the reminder. I have 2 more signs in the works, can't wait til they are done and in place so I can bump this fine sign thread again. I know how Jimmy loves his signs.

Hanging above my arcade. It's an original (not one of the repros) from an arcade - it's huge.

Got this off ebay - it's about 8x10. Was made for billiards but applies to arcade games:

Metal sign - slightly larger than a piece of standard paper.

Scrolling marquee. Got it on clearance at KBToys years ago for $10:

Here is mine that Rick has made for me.

Can't wait to get it and hang it up!

Nice! When did he make it for you?

A while back. Said he'd be shipping it out soon. Guess he has been REALLY busy.

I've been itching to get it up in the game room. I'm going to put it over my change machine. Not sure on lighting. May just do a soft spot on it. Or I may use some more of that EL lighting.
