Were you or someone you know in the Guantlet II Player Quest contest in 1986?

The Gauntlet II I recently bought had a flier in it from 1986 for the "Gauntlet II Player Quest Contest." Photos of the flier are on the next post.

It looks like you had to find your way to a Secret Room, obtain a Secret Code from that room, and then submit the entry form with your secret code to Atari to win prizes $$$. The first 500 entrants received a Gauntlet II Player Quest t-shirt.

Here are some fun history questions to consider for Gauntlet lovers:
Did you participate or know someone who did in the contest?
Were you or someone you know one of the first 500 entrants that got a t-shirt? Do you have a photo of someone wearing the t-shirt that you could post?
Any idea who the $$ prize winners were? Any KLOVers that were $$ prize winners?

I need to be able to get to a secret room and get a secret code first. Then I will fill it out and send it in! :) Who knows if Atari has a forwarding address these days.....

Is this secret room a known thing in Gauntlet II? Are there different types, and one that will allow you to enter your name and get a code?

I looked quickly at the Gauntlet II FAQ, and it mentions secret rooms, but I guess what I'm asking is whether this thing that the contest is referring to is something that's always been known, or something people haven't been aware of till now. (Sorry I'm not really a Gauntlet player.)

love this old school form of social media. I bet there were tons of people that remember this. Trouble is finding them. That write up for contest rules is very detailed and professional so I'm guessing Atari also put in significant effort to try and reach as many people as possible. I'm guessing thousands of flyers and hundreds of posters like the one kalan posted.
Thanks
Blake

Kalan it looks like you have the poster mentioned in this letter from Atari that was used to advertise the contest. Along with the poster and entry forms, there was also a Players Tips sheet which I have a copy of as well.

At some point maybe we combine the letter, poster, entry form and tip sheet for a complete set and submit it to an arcade museum :).
