I just done my first cap kit and flyback replacement. It was a wells k7000. Well everything seemed fairly easy and not as difficult as i was expecting. Which im pretty good with soldering. But anyway i hook everything back up and one of the same problems it had before still exists. The horizontal width i cant get the picture to strecth horizontally to fill the screen up. I tried to turn the width coil but it want turn or either im doing something wrong or i need to try something else. I have tried everything on the remote board but no go on that either. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I'm no expert on monitor repair as I have just gotten back into that myself but, does adjusting the H-width on the remote board POT make any difference at all?

Hmmm, maybe wrong monitor for the board but again not sure as I'm not so experienced on the monitor section.
Post in the monitor repair section and see if you get any help there.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

heh.. i think i might know whats up..

is this a 19 or 25 inch tube?? what number is on the chassis?? (44X or 5XX ???)

if you have a 25 inch tube but a chassis that has 4XX on it, thats a 19 inch chassis and that will cause this exact issue..

so check it out and lets go form there...

Its a 25" Tube and I think the number is 538. Its the original monitor and tube I do believe.

538= thats the correct chassis for the tube.....

basically that width kit.. its not that hard...

theres one cap you remove, try a different one, keep swapping untill the pic is large enough..

are you adjusting with the proper plastic tool or are you using a metal allen wrench?

The width on the K7000 chassis is adjusted at the width coil. They don't have adjustment pots on the remote board.

Thats a lil above my head i do believe. If it has charts/diagrams and numbers like a cap kit I could probably do it though.
The width cap is C38. If you order Bobs width cap kit it has caps of different values so you can try them out and see which works best for you.

Actually neither I just thought you turned it by hand but I did happen to notice it had like an allen head hole in it. What is the proper plastic tool?

yes the allen piece inside is what you turn..

you can use a regular allen wrench IF and this is again IF the power is off..

with it running the allen will get red hot and burn your fingers!!!!! so DONT DO IT with it on..

the proper tools are called "anti static tools"

lets see if i can find some linkys...

Actually, you shouldn't use an allen wrench ever... the ferrite piece is typically kinda stuck, and the metal allen wrench will easily break it, causing it to crumble and be useless.

Here's a good link: http://www.therealbobroberts.net/wc.html .

And you used to be able to get the plastic tools at Radio Shack, though I believe they're clearing them out... so it may be hit or miss.
