I performed a cap kit and replaced the flyback on my 25" monitor in an attempt to get it to stop blowing fuses. When that didn't work, I replaced the diodes, HOT, and Voltage Regulator. Still no luck.

I finally tested the Crit Safety Cap C36 and found that it was shorted. I have replaced it, but through the course of taking the chassis in and out of the cabinet over the past several months that I have been working on this problem, the black wire out of the top of the flyback transformer has disconnected from where it was attached (that is, where it was attached to on the monitor. It is still attached to the flyback). The red lead is still connect to the neck board, and I think the black lead connects nearby but I want to be sure before I power it up.

Does anyone know where this wire should go? I will post some pictures soon.

Thanks.

Here are some pictures. On the neck board picture I have marked a spot where there appears to have been a wire connected (that isn't connected to the resistor, it was just a bad angle).

One the tube picture I have marked where the wire comes from on the flyback as well as another point that appeared to have a wire connected to it at one time. The end of the black wire from the flyback is clean almost like it was cut off.

I could easily be wrong on both of these guesses, so thanks again for the help.

1) Monitor questions should be asked in the monitor section.

2) The black wire attaches to the neck socket in the hole circled below. Pop the housing off the back, solder the black wire to the tab you find inside, then put the housing back on with the black wire sticking out through the hole in the circle...
